Mohun Bagan Super Giant secured their place in the IFA Shield final with a composed 2-0 victory over United Sports Club at the Kishore Bharati Krirangan in Kolkata on October 15, 2025. Goals from Dimitrios Petratos and an own goal from United SC ensured the Mariners topped Group B and set up a highly anticipated Kolkata Derby final against arch rivals East Bengal at the Salt Lake Stadium.

Despite being without several first team regulars captain Subhasish Bose, Lalengmawia Ralte(Apuia), and Liston Colaco were all on national duty with India for their AFC Asian Cup qualifier against Singapore, while Manvir Singh remained sidelined through injury, coach Jose Molina's side delivered a professional performance that showcased the squad's depth.

The breakthrough arrived just before the interval when Petratos calmly converted Cummings' precise low cross from the left flank in the 45'. The Australian's composed finish rewarded Mohun Bagan's persistent attacking play and handed them a crucial advantage heading into half time.

The second goal came early in the second half when Robson's free kick caused chaos inside the United SC penalty area in the 49'. Cummings attempted a shot that was parried by goalkeeper Sujal Munda, but the ball deflected off United defender Ankan Bhattacharya and rolled into the net for an unfortunate own goal, effectively sealing the Mariners' progression to the final. United Sports Club refused to surrender and nearly pulled one back in the 66' when forward Sreenath M unleashed a powerful volley from inside the box. However, Mohun Bagan Super Giant custodian Syed Zahid Hussain Bukhari produced a brilliant save to preserve his clean sheet.

This victory sets up the third Kolkata Derby in three months, following East Bengal's wins in the Calcutta Football League and Durand Cup. The 20 time IFA Shield champions will be eager to reverse recent derby defeats when they face their city rivals on October 18.
