India Men Reach Commonwealth Kabaddi Championship Semifinals With 48-20 Win Over Tanzania

Ahmedabad, October 27: India’s men’s kabaddi team booked their place in the semifinals of the inaugural Commonwealth Kabaddi Championship with a dominant 48-20 victory over Tanzania at the Veer Savarkar Stadium on Tuesday.
India controlled the contest across both attack and defence, finishing with 30 raid points and 10 tackle points while inflicting six all-outs on Tanzania. The visitors managed 15 raid points and five tackle points, but were unable to put sustained pressure on the hosts as India maintained control through most of the match.
Neeraj Narwal led India’s raiding effort with 12 points from 16 raids, including six bonus points. Naveen Kumar and Shivam Patare also played important roles in attack, scoring nine raid points each from 11 raids. Their combined contribution ensured India continued to build pressure and regularly forced Tanzania into defensive situations.
India were equally effective at the back. Shubham Shinde led the defensive effort with five tackle points, while Deepak added three and Pravesh Malik contributed two. The balance between the raiders and defenders allowed India to stay comfortably ahead and keep Tanzania from building any real momentum.
For Tanzania, Juma Sultania was the standout performer with 13 points from 20 raids, including nine bonus points. However, his individual effort was not enough to change the direction of the contest as India’s collective display remained too strong.
The victory confirmed India’s place in the semifinals, which will be played on October 30 at 8:30 PM. Before that, India will complete their group-stage campaign against Sri Lanka on October 29 at 8:30 PM, with their place in the last four already secured.
