India registered their second consecutive victory at the Sultan of Johor Cup 2025 with a convincing 4 2 win over New Zealand at the Taman Daya Hockey Stadium in Johor Bahru, Malaysia on October 12, 2025. Arshdeep Singh, PB Sunil, Araijeet Singh Hundal and Rosan Kujur scored for India, while Gus Nelson and Aidan Max found the net for New Zealand.

India established early dominance with Arshdeep Singh opening the scoring in just the second minute after capitalizing on poor defending in the New Zealand circle. He made a swift run from the right flank and converted from the rebound after the New Zealand goalkeeper initially saved his attempt. The Indian team doubled their advantage in the 15' through PB Sunil, who executed a penalty corner variation after captain Rohit opted to pass rather than attempt his trademark drag flick. This goal came on India's fourth penalty corner attempt after the first three were blocked by the New Zealand first rusher.

Maintaining their attacking momentum into the second quarter, India extended their lead to 3-0 in the 26' when Araijeet Singh Hundal scored from the edge of the circle after a quick turn, finding himself unmarked following excellent wing play. New Zealand pulled one back through captain Gus Nelson in the 41', exploiting a numerical advantage in the Indian defensive circle. However, Rosan Kujur restored India's three goal cushion in the 47' by converting a penalty corner rebound.

Although Aidan Bax scored in the 52' to make the final moments interesting, India's defense held firm to secure the victory. Head coach PR Sreejesh acknowledged the need for improved defensive organization despite the positive result.
