The 2025 Guwahati Masters concluded on December 7 at the Sarju Sarai Indoor Sports Complex in Guwahati. The tournament, part of the 2025 BWF World Tour at the Super 100 level, presented a strong platform for emerging Indian badminton talent. Nineteen year old Sanskar Saraswat delivered a composed and determined performance to win the men’s singles title. In the final, he defeated his compatriot Mithun Manjunath in a three game battle, 21–11, 17–21, 21–13. Saraswat’s journey was notable from the start. He began in the qualifying rounds and went on to upset higher ranked opponents, including a top 50 player in the second round. In the semifinal, he beat an experienced Indonesian opponent in straight games, securing his first senior level final. In the final, he raced through the opening game convincingly. After dropping the second, he regained focus in the decider, opening with a strong lead and closing out the match with precision. This title marks Sanskar’s first BWF World Tour triumph. Observers say this breakthrough could significantly improve his world ranking and open the door for direct entries into future major tournaments. On the women’s side, Tanvi Sharma advanced to the final after a solid semifinal victory over third seeded Hina Akechi. However, in the final she was unable to clinch the title. She lost 21–18, 21–18 to Tung Ciou‑tong of Chinese Taipei. This marks yet another runner up finish for her in a senior level tournament this year. The Guwahati Masters 2025 not only showcased rising Indian talent but also reinforced the importance of Super 100 events in providing competitive pressure and exposure. For Sanskar Saraswat, this trophy could be the springboard he needs to establish himself on the global circuit. For Tanvi Sharma, the performance is a reminder of her potential and a motivation to push for the top spot in future tournaments.
Indian badminton appears to have promising successors ready to step up and the Guwahati Masters has given them a stage to shine.
