Diamond Harbour FC produced a ruthless attacking display to overwhelm BSF Football Club 8-1 in a lopsided Group B encounter of the 134th IndianOil Durand Cup 2025 held at the Kishore Bharati Krirangan on Thursday.
The highlight of the evening was Brazilian striker Clayton Silva, who netted an incredible four goals (2’, 35’, 71’, 90+3’) and dominated proceedings from the outset. Slovenian forward Luka Majcen complemented him with a brace (7’, 39’) while Paul (53’) and Jobby Justin (67’) added their names to the scoresheet. Kishori scored a solitary goal for BSF in the 90th minute, which proved to be nothing more than a consolation.
Diamond Harbour vs BSF Durand Cup 2025 began with a bang as Silva found the net within two minutes, calmly slotting home from a Jobby Justin assist. Luka Majcen doubled the advantage in the 7th minute, capitalizing on a defensive mix-up after a Clayton effort.
Despite BSF’s efforts to settle into the match, they were completely outplayed across the pitch. Silva struck again in the 35th minute from a well-worked team move, and just minutes later, Majcen made it 4-0 with a composed finish from Silva’s lofted pass.
BSF’s only bright moment in the first half came in the 43rd minute when Kishori tested Susanta Malik, who stood firm in goal. But by half-time, Diamond Harbour had already secured a dominant four-goal cushion.
The second half followed the same script. Paul added the fifth in the 53rd minute with a low strike after a slick attacking transition. Former India international Jobby Justin made it six in the 67th minute, heading home from a precise corner by Samuel.
Silva completed his hat-trick in the 71st minute, punishing BSF for failing to clear a corner. Though BSF pulled one back through Kishori in the 90th minute—assisted by Harmandeep Singh—Diamond Harbour had the final say.
In stoppage time, Silva sealed his fourth goal of the night with a powerful shot from outside the area, completing an 8-1 rout.
With this victory, Diamond Harbour FC moved to the top of Group B with six points from two matches, boasting a +7 goal difference. Their next challenge will be a crucial clash against Mohun Bagan Super Giant on August 9.
