Bengaluru FC opened their Group C campaign in the AIFF Super Cup 2025-26 with a commanding 2-0 victory over Mohammedan Sporting Club at the Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium. The Blues delivered a dominating performance with goals in each half to secure a winning start.
Bengaluru dominated possession from the outset, pressing high with quick midfield exchanges and coordinated movements that kept Mohammedan's defence under constant pressure. Mohammedan SC struggled to gain a foothold in the match as the home side dictated the tempo. Mohammedan grew into the match as the first half progressed and found moments of rhythm through Tangva Ragui, whose long range attempt went straight into the hands of Bengaluru goalkeeper Gurpreet Singh Sandhu. Despite their efforts, the visitors could not penetrate Bengaluru's organised defence. The breakthrough came in the 34' when teenager Taorem Kelvin Singh opened his account for the club. A well timed pass from Braian Sanchez on the left found Kelvin, who controlled the ball with a good first touch and rifled it into the top corner with his left boot. The goal broke the deadlock and gave Bengaluru a deserved lead at halftime.
Despite conceding, Mohammedan pressed forward through both flanks with Lalthankima and Adison both forcing saves from Sandhu. The restart saw Mohammedan attempt to take early control with aggressive pressing forward. Sunil Chhetri came close in the 54' when he connected a chance created by Rahul Bheke, while Vinith Venkatesh's free kick found Chhetri again five minutes later, but his volley missed the target by inches. Sanchez almost doubled the lead when his 79' strike hit the post after a well constructed move down the right flank. Minutes later, Chhetri was fouled inside the box and converted the resulting penalty into the bottom corner with trademark composure to secure the victory.
